Conspiracy Theory: Chemtrails

Whats the Deal?

Contrails, or condensation trails, are “streaks of condensed water vapor created in the air by an airplane or rocket at high altitudes.” According to the chemtrail conspiracy theory, long-lasting trails left in the sky by high-flying aircraft are Chemical and/or Biological agents deliberately sprayed for sinister purposes undisclosed to the general public. Believers in the theory argue that normal contrails dissipate relatively quickly, and contrails that do not dissipate must contain additional substances. Because of the popularity of this theory official agencies across the world face regular enquiries from the public demanding an explanation. The chemtrails are thought to be used for various nefarious purposes such as weather control; population control; psychological manipulation; solar radiation management; suoer-weapon preparation (more on this another time); even biological/chemical warfare.

Where did it come from?

According to Wikipedia the conspiracy started some time in the 1990’s by investigative journalists and was then picked up and promoted by radio personalities on late night radio. USAF officials were accused of spraying “mysterious substances” on the US public. This was evidenced with trails that lasted longer than “normal contrails”. In Canada, a petition was lodged with the Canadian government concerning the “adverse health effects of high altitude aerial spraying”. They responded stating: “There is no substantiated evidence, scientific or otherwise, to support the allegation that there is high altitude spraying conducted in Canadian airspace. The term ‘chemtrails’ is a popularised expression, and there is no scientific evidence to support their existence.” Official statements on the non-existence of chemtrails have not discouraged the conspiracy theorists however.

As one of the more popular conspiracies out there, there is a lot of support for it. Whilst on holiday in Wales, visiting the tallest waterfall in Wales, I encountered a tourist information wrack. Normally stuffed with info on other attractions that are nearby, I found that each section had a small leaflet stuck in the front about chemtrails. This was a while ago now and I no longer have it (as I took one) otherwise I would show you it. Here are some links to supporters websites and videos:

Alongside the hardcore believers, there are those that will equally vehemently cry “No!” Sometimes they can be quite vitriolic! I find it odd the level of trouble some people will go to to disprove something another person believes. OFten than for no other reason than “because”

So there you have it. The first Conspiracy Theory I thought I would share with you. Let me know what you think. Is “The Government” spraying chemicals into the atmosphere? Is it part of a plan to depopulate the planet? Or a weapon used against Aliens in a secret war? Feel free to comment! Personally, I’m open minded about it. I would say its possible something is being sprayed about in the air. But I feel its way more likely to be rubbish. The government cannot keep their own expenses secret after all.

As I am sure all will have noticed by now there has been little activity from me over the summer months on the blog. I have managed to get some painting done and have also made a myriad of plans. (Who among us hasn’t?) So what has been going on? Well 15mm has been featuring heavily in my gaming life as my group seeks to affordably satiate our SciFi based desires.

15mm models are one of the cheapest way of going. most games can convert with little adjustment to 15mm scale. most only need a little adjustment to the movement rules (I.E reduce 40k movement from 6 inches to 4 inches for infantry) In our case Gruntz is fulfilling our needs nicely. I find myself collecting a lot of models! and planning more in the upcoming months (such as my birthday! *Hint Hint*) I’ll throw some pictures up as soon as I can of the 15mm Khurasan Federal Troops I have painted. I think I’ll write an article about the differences in painting this smaller scale that I have encountered as it is a very different beast to 28-32mm that I am used to with 40k in the past and Warmachine more recently. Its easier to get good looking results for a start.

From my groups fantasy standpoint, Kings of War has been the flavour of the month, only we have gone travel sized and are using 10mm models with a conversion from inches to centimetres. My wargaming host has even constructed a table to scale! I’ll get some pictures of this as well as the Dark Elf army (or Twilight Kin if you prefer) army i am constructing for it. Again, cheapness is very much the main draw, with a 2000pt army costing around the £35 mark!

As far as plans for the blog go, i think i will be returning to the roots of why i started it originally, not that you’ll find it on this one but in a previous blog there was more than just wargaming! I will write opinion pieces on the political news that piques my interest or fuels my anger and will happily host any wargamer that would like to chip in their own views and articles on what has gotten them steamed up. Lets face it, Politics effects all of us whether we like it or not. I will also spout off about other news pieces that illicit a strong enough train of thought from me and again, will happily allow others to do the same. I doubt these will be Wargaming related ever at all but you never know your luck. With my new job I should have enough time to write some stuff at various times, like now, as I sit in a quiet office waiting alone for something to happen.

Anyway. Happy birthday to me.

Journey into Undeath part 2

So I have aquired my first Cryxian models and the first thing to say about them has to be my surprise at how very nice they are! I have a min unit of Bane Knights and hot diggety! Very nicely sculpted and very dynamic models they are. People are always to quick to point out the negatives with models, especially older ones like these are. The thin spear shafts are slightly bendy but if you store them right I cannot see any issues. My Temple Flameguard had no such issue and have similarly thin shafts on their spears.

Overall im happy with my decision, though hardly any of my models have actually been sold thus far, swapping my judicator got me a good starter force. Something we have never really had to deal with round here is incorporeal stuff so with Blackbanes Ghost Raiders on the table it should help shuffle anything non-cygnar out of kilter. Cygnar will just throw gunmages my way but there are ways of dealing with them. My plan as it stands is going to be to make 3 armies il not change with the intention of using them in local tourneys to begin with in the 35pt range.

With that in mind I will be taking Cryx to a local tourney this very sunday to see what all the fuss is about. Gaspy1 and denny1 are my weapons of choice, time to see what they can do methinks! Il try doing a report on the tourney if possible as well. In the mean time, I will stroke my moustache evilly with glee until my moment of glory comes!

See you later, after I’ve lost!

Journey into Undeath

In an effort to forgo yet more faction boredom and to give my local group a bit more variety, I have killed myself. My soul belongs to a dragon now. And possibly Asphyxious 3 as well. So to utilise my blog for something useful as well as to have somethig to post (its been a while, lets be honest) I would like to announce that my Menoth army is for sale. Or possibly trade. So if you have a craving for some Fire, hope over to the website and check out what im getting rid of. £275 will get you the lot, or il trade for a Cryxian army. Follow the link…

One Minty Fresh Cat Goes On A Charity Run…

One Mr Mossop (AKA @Peppermint_cat) needs your support! read the below to see what you can do! It might be as simple as playing games and eating cake!
“Some of you already know that myself and my other half, Beth, are running the Virgin London Marathon for the fantastic Multiple Sclerosis UK. The training is going really well (even if my legs are screaming at me right now after our third 20 miler last night!) and we’re raring to go on April 21st.
MS-UK are a brilliant charity, very local to us and the work they do by giving support to those with MS is a brilliant example of the impact that well-organised, dedicated and bloody hard-working charitable organisations can have.

What am I doing?

Well, this is a question I often ask myself in a different context, but right here, right now I’m raising money for MS-UK, in support of my sponsorship for the London marathon, by having a charity wargaming marathon. That means 26.2 hours of non-stop gaming (!) starting at 12:30 on Sunday the 30th of March through to 2:20pm on Monday the 31st March.
Myself and the wonderful Phil @4Tkgaming will be taking on all-comers in a variety of gaming formats including:
  • Warhammer 40,000 (come and challenge Phil, current Ultimate Commander champion!)
  • Warhammer Fantasy Battles
  • Warmachine
  • Relics
  • Hordes
  • Infinity
  • Drop Zone Commander
  • Dreadball
  • Bloodbowl
  • Sedition wars
  • Munchkin

and many more!

We already have a good stock of opponents lined up, but we’ll endeavour to take on anyone that comes through the door – so long as we’re still conscious, of course. All you have to do is make a suitable donation to the MS-UK cause and the dice-rolling can begin!
I’ll be live-tweeting the event (@peppermint_cat) with the hashtag #warmongersmarathon, so you can follow the goings on even if you can’t come down in person.

Beth will be baking up a storm and accepting monetary donations in exchange for cakey goodness.

Next important question, where will we be doing this? Andy, the owner of 4Tk Gaming (@4tkgaming on twitter, on Facebook, map here: has very kindly agreed to support the event and provide us with all the gaming facilities we need over our marathon effort.

How can you help?

Firstly, if you can, get down to 4Tk Gaming over the Sunday/Monday of this weekend and show us some support by keeping Phil and I awake and entertained.
Secondly, please share this as widely as you can, retweets, reblogs, facebook shares will all help to spread the word and bring the support from far and wide!
Most importantly (and you knew this was going to come down to money, didn’t you?) we need your cash! Even if you can’t get down to donate in person (in exchange for cake or a game), please, please, please support Phil and I as we raise money for MS-UK. Anything you can give will spur us on on the day and fuel Beth and I through the somewhat daunting prospect of completing 26.2 miles along the river bank in London.
You can sponsor us on the day, or here online:

Thank you!

So thank you for reading this, thank you for retweeting and reblogging and sharing it far and wide and thank you for your support!”

Long Time No Post…

Alright, long time is something of an understatement. I apologise for the lack of posting. this is mainly due to a new job, lack of a PC, I’m typing this on my tablet at the moment, as well as generic real life being a bitch. So what should i post about? Theres so much i haven’t covered its probably best to not try and catch up, that way madness lies. So i think a general hobby update is the way to go.

On My Table

My recent hobby related activity has been Warmahordes as per usual. I have been snapping up ebay bargains left right and centre for my Menite forces. This is my second go at Menoth and thus far I’ve been picking up all the stuff I didn’t get previously. Last time i was all about the Flameguard, i did not have a single Exemplar. This time however i have nothing but Exemplars! I’m loving the medium bases and seriously looking forward to the upcoming Bastion Seneschal. I have gone for a purple colour scheme for my guys which i will show off below. Christmas saw me getting, initially the circle Gargantuan, bless my wifes effort, which i was able to swap for a Judicator. I love it and need to fight the urge to put it in every list i make! My current caster of choice is Kreoss2 and i need to keep with him until i have a certain level of competency but new shineys pull at my attention. I will be converting myself a Kreoss2 from the plastic Kreoss1 and have been picking up crusaders on the cheap for conversions of Fires of Salvation and a Guardian jack.

Sorry for the poor quality

The Gargantuans book has been released and although I dont have it presently I do have War Room and thus all the Trollbloods new stuff available to see. I love me some Epic Grim! One of the first Warlock units available and definately the most characterful, I will be picking him up as well as the Trollkin Warders. I rather like the look of the night troll as well. Unfortunately anyone being vocal about these things that iv seen, mainly on the PP forums, is being negative about the troll releases. In fact the Trollbloods forum seems to be the Cygnar forum of the Hordes forums, endlessly complaining. Not that I’ve really read the other forums

The other distraction I have is the new Warmachine faction, The Convergence of Cyriss. luckily these are not released yet but my wallet has a wary look about it.

Thats about it for now, just a quick update and some self gratifying pictures to show off. Now if you’ll excuse me, i have some conversions to work on whilst i should be doing housework.

A Married Englishmans Home is his Man Cave…

Presented for your viewing pleasure, my first video blog! Just a short little ramble showing off my man cave. Harry Potter jokes aside, you want one like it! You cannot deny it!

Im afraid videos dont work here for whatever reason so its just the link.

I Give In To The Desires Of My Burninating Heart…

Some time ago I left the hallowed homelands of the Creator of Man and strapped on a set of pointy ears. There was a lot of killiness that went on (I was mostly on the receiving end, it must be said) but my heart felt hollow. Something was missing. As time passed I came to realise that I felt cold. No amount of Myrmidon based fun would warm it. Except the Pheonix. It sets fire to things. I always liked setting fire to things. (Using the medium of a wargame to do it seems like the best possible channel for this it must be said) So I looked again at my options and it became clear that there was one choice for me. My burninating heart desired the warming presence of grilled heathen.

"Noone wears a billowy cloak like old Vilmon..."

My first faction had to be the way to go. So with my arms bound I presented myself to the Scrutators for the inevitable wracking. Once my penance has been served I will return to my first love, Feora. Only now I have a stabby option as well in the form of Thyra. These lovely ladies are to be my chosen concubines of Warmachine, as dangerous a prospect as that seems.

I do NOT look forward to gluing the smoke stacks on again.

This does however create something of a dilemma. I have been saving for a Mountain King with which to squashify and eat things. Now I need to decide if I want to cook things or eat them. I cannot see sufficient monies coming to me anytime soon that will allow me to do both, so what to do. I’m fairly sure I know, since the first pictures of the Judicator nearly swayed me back to Menoth on their own, where this decision will go. Plus Epic Feora was always my favorite and she loves her a Judicator. All I need to do is resist buying any other shinies before I have to coinage for a Judicator. So I have managed to swap all the Elfin toys for the correct and proper burny things and I intend to show what I paint on here, as any blogger worth his salt would. I really must try getting more actual Bloggery done rather than just advertising everyones new toys I can’t afford! but anyway….

A Thought Occurred…

Whilst at work today a thought struck me about my beloved Warmachine/Hordes. There are those that state it is to cartoony for them. Looking at the Trollbloods faction I can certainly see that point of view has some validity to it. But I find myself wondering if this might be part of the appeal of the game? Looking at the concepts and a lot of the artwork I find my mind drifting back to such  pleasures as Visionaires, Bravestar and other classic 80’s cartoons from my childhood. It seems to me that Warmachine has massive potential as a cartoon series, something akin to the new Thundercats cartoon that came along recently. Look at the art for the Cygnaran Trencher Commandos…

They feel like they could be in a popular cartoon series like those mentioned above. Its something I would watch today, so long as it wasn’t on a channel I had to pay extra for. I don’t know if this would detract from some peoples enjoyment of the game, I’m sure there are those that would cry out in horror at the prospect. I put it to you however that there are far worse things that have been made into cartoons that have done very well indeed…

I realise this is the second time I have used this cartoon in a post. It is not one I watched….    …Honest….     …Stop looking at me like that!

Now obviously a cartoon for warmachine would not look anything like the 80’s monsters of my childhood, Cartoon Technology has vastly improved since we had to watch people with the facial definition of an early Action Man flying through the air killing the baddies. Now-a-days we would look at the joys of this…

…with no small amount of derision. These days though…

compares very nicely to its first incarnation

Where anatomy often seemed to be a secondary consideration.

But I digress…  When I look at my favorite Warmachine and Hordes units and characters my mind is always cast back in this way and this is what made me think that just maybe those fellows at Privateer Press are quite heavily influenced by the greats of the 80’s. Heres a little Imagination experiment for you…

Replace the characters in the Thundercats with some characters from the Iron Kingdoms. How “Lion’o” is Stryker?

Aside from the Gun and Armour its all quite close. There are setting differences here obviously but I think you would not find it hard to transplant the 2 characters in your mind and put Lion’o in the Iron Kingdoms and Stryker somewhere on Third Earth. Its not a strenuous mental exercise. Just something to give you an idea of whats running through my head.

In all frankness, a Warmachine/Hordes Cartoon would work far better for Privateer than for anything GW make, with the possible exception of Bloodbowl.  Anyway I think I’m starting to rant. I apologise if this post is a little disjointed. Unfortunately this is often the way my brain works. Therefore I will leave you with images from Warmachine and Hordes for you to put into cartoons…

Seriously. Cryx would make excellent cartoon baddies!
