Quite clearly its been a while since I have been able to utilize some decent equipment to allow me to make any kind of post. Now, however I have a chromebook which will allow for much greater regularity on the posting front.
So, what have I been up to? Well quite a lot really. On the Warmachine front its all change.I have moved from Circle Orboros and back into Mercs in the form of the excellent Cephalyx with a growing hive mine to command.I have Pigs in the planning stages, sort of. The Privateer Press forum has a Secret Santa underway that I have joined in with, I requested a Pig Warlock for my prezzy. I will hopefully show what I am painting for this as well as some of my Cephalyx.
Warzone is underway for me as well. Cybertronic being the chosen faction. This has fallen by the wayside though as my group has taken up some historical Bolt Action ….erm…. …action. Japan is where I have gone with this with a sizeable force already assembled and ready for paint. I have also FINALLY picked up some Dropzone Commander via a shared 2 player boxed set. Really struggling with a colour scheme for the Scourge models I have and I have not yet managed to get a game in so I cannot report back on the game itself as yet. Same goes for Bolt Action. Had a try out game with some germans which was not played properly at all!
My man cave is no more. Alas I chose to give it up to become storage space. Got me some brownie points with “She who must be obeyed” at any rate. As a result painting has ground to a halt for the most part.
Something not wargaming related, I have been looking at in my spare time is conspiracy theories. Which is not to say that I necessarily believe any of them. I consider myself open minded enough to not laugh (not always anyway) but I have always been fascinated by the various things out there that people have not explain or for whatever reason have decided to attach some kind of bizarre explanation to something simple. So I will from time to time post something about a theory that piques my particular interest. Don’t judge me, but do share opinions!
Recently my local gaming group decided to start a Journeyman league. Peoples reasons for taking part varied greatly, from wanting to have everyone at the same level for games in terms of faction knowledge, to just wanting to have the motivation to get things painted. Personally I needed (Yes, needed) to have a Warmachine faction, since I already have a Hordes one and this seemed like the perfect way to get it going. I am very much a leaf on the wind. I have a tendancy to go for whatever shiney thing the wind is blowing at at the time, and this was certainly no different for me. The announcement of the Cephalyx coming out was one that definately excited me. They are not out for a while yet so how could I tie in to this now without needing to start a whole new faction? Simple! Go for Cryx! Now I had a cryx army before and I was not excited at getting it all painted so what to do about this? Enter the theme. During a chat amongst the group on facebook chat we were shown a Cthulhu themed Plague marine force for 40k which looked really good. Seeming this made me think that a Cthulhu themed Cryx army was the way forward. With that in mind I have started on my battlebox and thought I would show the progress I have made with the Cthulian Cryx army…
sorry for those last 2 but you get the idea.
Here is a new video regarding the forthcoming Warmachine Tactics videogame. Funded through Kickstarter in 2 days flat this game has promise, but I lack a machine I can play it on presently. Therefore my interest lies with the limited edition alt. Sculpt models being offered for new Journeyman characters being released as part of the next Warmachine book, Vengeance as well as the first ever caster to be released as both “prime” and “epic” versions at the same time and the first ever faction change! He starts as a Noble Cygnaran, then he snuff it and joins Cryx! Full stats are released through a No Quarter Extra made for the kickstarter and all over the Privateer Press Forums. Check the video then check he Kickstarter @ Kickstarter.com!
So I have aquired my first Cryxian models and the first thing to say about them has to be my surprise at how very nice they are! I have a min unit of Bane Knights and hot diggety! Very nicely sculpted and very dynamic models they are. People are always to quick to point out the negatives with models, especially older ones like these are. The thin spear shafts are slightly bendy but if you store them right I cannot see any issues. My Temple Flameguard had no such issue and have similarly thin shafts on their spears.
Overall im happy with my decision, though hardly any of my models have actually been sold thus far, swapping my judicator got me a good starter force. Something we have never really had to deal with round here is incorporeal stuff so with Blackbanes Ghost Raiders on the table it should help shuffle anything non-cygnar out of kilter. Cygnar will just throw gunmages my way but there are ways of dealing with them. My plan as it stands is going to be to make 3 armies il not change with the intention of using them in local tourneys to begin with in the 35pt range.
With that in mind I will be taking Cryx to a local tourney this very sunday to see what all the fuss is about. Gaspy1 and denny1 are my weapons of choice, time to see what they can do methinks! Il try doing a report on the tourney if possible as well. In the mean time, I will stroke my moustache evilly with glee until my moment of glory comes!
See you later, after I’ve lost!
Alright, long time is something of an understatement. I apologise for the lack of posting. this is mainly due to a new job, lack of a PC, I’m typing this on my tablet at the moment, as well as generic real life being a bitch. So what should i post about? Theres so much i haven’t covered its probably best to not try and catch up, that way madness lies. So i think a general hobby update is the way to go.
On My Table
My recent hobby related activity has been Warmahordes as per usual. I have been snapping up ebay bargains left right and centre for my Menite forces. This is my second go at Menoth and thus far I’ve been picking up all the stuff I didn’t get previously. Last time i was all about the Flameguard, i did not have a single Exemplar. This time however i have nothing but Exemplars! I’m loving the medium bases and seriously looking forward to the upcoming Bastion Seneschal. I have gone for a purple colour scheme for my guys which i will show off below. Christmas saw me getting, initially the circle Gargantuan, bless my wifes effort, which i was able to swap for a Judicator. I love it and need to fight the urge to put it in every list i make! My current caster of choice is Kreoss2 and i need to keep with him until i have a certain level of competency but new shineys pull at my attention. I will be converting myself a Kreoss2 from the plastic Kreoss1 and have been picking up crusaders on the cheap for conversions of Fires of Salvation and a Guardian jack.
Sorry for the poor quality
The Gargantuans book has been released and although I dont have it presently I do have War Room and thus all the Trollbloods new stuff available to see. I love me some Epic Grim! One of the first Warlock units available and definately the most characterful, I will be picking him up as well as the Trollkin Warders. I rather like the look of the night troll as well. Unfortunately anyone being vocal about these things that iv seen, mainly on the PP forums, is being negative about the troll releases. In fact the Trollbloods forum seems to be the Cygnar forum of the Hordes forums, endlessly complaining. Not that I’ve really read the other forums
The other distraction I have is the new Warmachine faction, The Convergence of Cyriss. luckily these are not released yet but my wallet has a wary look about it.
Thats about it for now, just a quick update and some self gratifying pictures to show off. Now if you’ll excuse me, i have some conversions to work on whilst i should be doing housework.
The raw might of a naval ironhull now walks the lands as the Galleon. The colossal fires a rolling broadside before reaching out with its enormous cargo claw to toss warjacks like rag dolls. It can also use its massive trident to reel in foes and finish them off at close range with a series of punishing blows. The Galleon commands a high price, but for those mercenaries who have the fortune to spend, it fights as a symbol of unquestionable affluence and might.
The freaking size of that claw alone!
